An array of solar modules installed on the roof of your home produces DC (direct current) electricity from sunlight.
The inverter converts the DC electricity to mains voltage, AC (alternating current) which is fed through your meter and into the Mains Grid.
Your electricity provider buys your clean energy from you at the FiT rate—paying you for each kilowatt hour that your system produces.
You buy your electricity from your provider, at the current rate as you do now.
